Reply:I've played trumpet for 8 years and I have had a berp I use it mainly for lip slurs. Octave work requires air not special tools. Find a practice room and if you are worried of playing too loud and dont have a special room buy a mute.
Air is a trumpet players friend you don't need any other tools other than your instrument, lips, and air.
However if your lips aren't strong enough to do octave work without straining yourself then you will need a berp for lip slurs once you can do lip slurs no problem then octave work should be easier.
Reply:You're talking about B.E.R.P..
That's a tone intesifier, it helps lessen that berp noise from the mouthpiece. They sell a lot of those in different brands.
I wouldn't buy the BERP brand. I recommend the bach ones.
Reply:thats a tone intensifier. It doesnt help with octaves, just mellows out the tone by keeping the mouthpiece from moving. I have one, but I never use it. It seriously does NOT help. It is a waste of money, dont get one.
