I wouldn't know how to take the trombone training into account too much...
Most people learning to play trumpet start on the Bach 7C. It's fairly cheap and easily available. It's easier to reach higher notes on the 7C, but the tone quality's very bright. If you're not in too much of a rush to learn trumpet, 5C (or even 3C) might be a better bet and outlive the 7C's usefulness.
