Which is harder? Trumpet or violin?

I want to play a musical instrument, and I want to know which is harder, trumpet or violin. I already play piano, so I can read music, and I'm having a hard time deciding which instrument I want to play. I think I want to play whichever one's harder to play.

Which is harder? Trumpet or violin?
Violin definately. I was in a similar situation to you, I can play piano and wanted another instrument and it was a toss up between violin and something else and i picked violin. But my music teacher told me that really if you want to be a great violinist you really should start learning it at a very young age, like 5 or something coz they don't have frets and it's real hard to get the notes and stuff right and I ended up quitting so i can concentrate on piano. So yeah ... good luck :D
Reply:Ha-ha, what's the logic here? They're not even similar, pick one that you like.
Reply:trumpet is easier no question
Reply:Violin is MUCH harder ^_^ trumpet is fairly easy to get the hang of ^_^
Reply:trumpet it's hard work on the lips honestly
Reply:i play both and several others..violin is extremely hard and trumpet is extremely easy..trumpet you can learn on your own but you need a teacher for violin!

  1. in my middle school, we could be in both band and orchestra. so I played trumpet and viola. Orchestra was definitely harder! From staying together to staying in tone, everything was a challenge. It wasn't like that with band; as much as I enjoyed it, my sound just blended in with everyone else. It's not easy of course, and it seems hard if it's the only instrument you play, but the viola/orchestra was much more difficult. Which is why in many schools they start teaching orchestra before band- it takes a longer time to learn. Anyway, I ended up quitting trumpet after middle school- I still practice on my own, but I didn't want to waste a class opportunity on band. As far as orchestra, I switched from viola to bass because I could never become quite familiar with the alto clef. Bass was rather easy after playing the viola (though it may be because of my piano experience which made me familiar with the bass clef.) However, it was difficult to switch instruments and I don't think it is something I will do again! I hope I helped you and anyone else wondering the same question!
