Ive been playing trumpet for a while and have completed a certificate in performance, now im auditioning for another course. But im experincing a sore upper lip, i try not to press to much but im struggling to get through one of my pieces cos of the pressure on my lips.
When practicing the trumpet my lips get tired quickly?
Unfortunately that's one of the hardest parts of brass instruments. All of us struggle with mouth soreness off and on. It DOES get better.
Try to lighten up on the pressure you're putting on the mouthpiece. Take your mouthpiece out and try to buzz the piece just on it alone. It takes GREAT ait pressure and speed, but you don't need to kill yourself. Make sure you're practicing every day, and after you play, buzz your lips out. If you are sore on the inside, use a mouthsore treatment (like for cankersores...it numbs it.) Take some ibuprofrin, and ice it down if it's REALLY paining you. The way to strengthen the lip is to stay at it.
