Trumpet lessons?

Hi all!

I've decided to apply for trumpet lessons beause I can't really use my left hand at all. Will I need to provide my own trumpet?

Trumpet lessons?

opps! sorry I think I should wear my glasses more.
Reply:I actually disagree with those who say to get your own, unless you've played before.

I would not spend the money to buy one unless you know that you like it and want to stick with it. If you've never played before you can't be absolutely sure that your going to enjoy playing...why waste money until you know you'll keep playing?
Reply:private lessons yes

school lessons probably not and if you play in a band they may also lend you one
Reply:You are better off supplying your own instrument if you can because:

1. When you borrow one, you don't usually get to keep it during the summer.

2. Whoever used that instrument before you may not have taken very good care of it, simply because it wasn't theirs!

3. The replacement cost, if the instrument is lost or stolen, is usually far greater than the price of an instrument you would purchase for yourself. Same goes for repair costs. School districts are often constrained by regulation, to deal with local vendors and recommended repair facilities. Individuals have the luxury of being able to shop around!

If you do borrow or rent an instrument, be sure to take out insurance on it. The insurance should cover the amount if the instrument is lost, stolen, in need of repairs, or inadvertently destroyed! (You would be amazed at how many people back up over the instruments because they get left behind the car instead of placed in the trunk!)

Hope this helps.
