Trumpet Sound?

Hey all, so I took my trumpet in to the shop to get my 2nd valve casing fixed, and so when I came home and practiced with the rental from the shop, it sounds so much cleaner, because my trumpet sounds very like..musty or hazy would be a description, what could be causing this? I make sure it is in top running condition, frequently oiled valves, greased slides, and the whole shebang but I don't know what is causing this very bad sound...Any suggestions are very much appreciated! Thank you all!

Trumpet Sound?
There could be air leaking in the second valve if it was damaged. What exactly is wrong with the 2nd valve casing or what made you want to take it in to the shop?

It could also be that the instrument hasn't been cleaned out in a while and stuff starts to build up particularly in the lead pipe. Make sure you scrub out the leadpipe with a snake brush.
Reply:I am also a trumpet player. I suggest try taking a part your trumpet and giving it a full cleaning. (as much as possible)

One other thing if you go to a place that disinfects musical instruments with an acid bath try that it really helps. For any other ideas contact the local school band teacher he/she may know some other information to help you.
Reply:Have you considered the fact that the other horn might be a better instrument?
