Please help trumpet ?

The tunning slid on my trumpet is stuck how can i lossen it

Please help trumpet ?
I was not going to answer this question as I saw the first answer had very good advice ,but when I saw the 2nd answer where the person said a music shop would charge $100.00 dollars to fix a stuck tuning slide is completely ridiculous. I have been dealing with minor problems on my horns for many years and something like your stuck tuning slide would most likely at a local music shop be fixed for free. It is not a major problem to fix and I would be really really surprised if a brass repair department at any music store would charge anything let alone a $100.00 dollars lol Also Matthew you sound like someone who would benefit greatly from the great DVD by trumpet player Warren Vache called I Love The Trumpet which can be purchased at amazon.com or warrenvache.com The DVD is 4 hours of great trumpet educational info which you and anyone who plays trumpet should view many times.
Reply:There are many homemade methods for this, but they all risk damaging your precious trumpet. I'd recommend take it to your local music store/instrument repairman. That's the safest and most guaranteed method. And don't forget after it comes unstuck, to grease it up, I believe Selmer sells Slide/Cork Grease.
Reply:taking it to a pro will cost you $100 or more, no doubt. soak your horn in warm water, but take out the valves. this is 100% free, and it will loosen the slide. be sure to use slide grease from now on on it though.
Reply:I've tried many methods but the only one that really works is taking it to the shop. While you're there, have them clean it out, if the slide is stuck, I'm sure it couldn't hurt.
