Trumpet Problems... Need Urgent Help!?

Hi, I just received this trumpet about 3 days ago brand new as I had purchased it. All of a sudden when I move the back slide thing it falls off and when I put it back on it gets all stiff. Also, when I play the trumpet there is a sort of ticking noise and I can feel resistance.

Trumpet Problems... Need Urgent Help!?
With all new horns, especially when purchased from a mass producer, always wash it first. There are microscopic shavings of metal all over the horn. Give it a good wash inside out and make sure to use light grease on the slides and even lighter valve oil for the valves.

The ticking noise you hear are probably the valves that have thin or weak cushions. Any music shop will have the pads for that. They are the pads that go along the valve stem so that when the valve comes up after pressing it it won't hit the bare metal of the valve cap. The pad prevents the "tick tick tick" sound. Good luck.
Reply:Grease all the slides and put oil on the valves. You might want to give it a bath too. If you know how to do that, that is. If it is a brand new trumpet; you'll have to do all that. Ticking is usually caused by the valve caps not being tightened all the way. Make sure you press down the valves while you take out the valve slides.
Reply:you need to get some valve oil. you can get it at any music shop or online. you can ask them to show you how to do it.
Reply:you shouldn't try to fix anything by yourself, you could make the problem worse. It also could be something simple like valve oil...but to be sure take it in and have someone look at it. It would be better than putting it in worse condition.
