The Vincent Bach Stradivarius trumpets are the standard for good players who want to get a decent horn. There are several models for preference of the player. They are currently sold by Selmer.
Reply:I wouldn't say its necessary by any means to get a new trumpet. It's more about changing the mouthpiece. When your a beginner you start on a 7c normally, because it has a middle range. Then I went to 5c which makes it easy to hit lower and harder to hit higher. DIfferent mouthpieces completely change the trumpet.
Reply:I always recommend that you buy the best instrument you can afford.

You could move up to an intermediate model but you are better off going for a profesional model especially if you are serious. The difference between them will become apparent when you try them out. They are generally better made, respond better, the sound will ring better

One of the most populaur professional makes is the Bach Stradivarius, but the Yamaha top line is good, as are the Schilkes. Take note, there are also plenty of small custom makers depending on what your needs are. for example Monette, Taylor, Galileo.

Also be aware that there is a growing market for after sales modifications. You can get for a Bach Strad - a custom main tuning slide, heavy valve bottom caps, replacement valve stems in different weights and metals, resiting or replacing stays with heavier or lighter ones etc.

I suppose that moral of that is that no matter how good a trumpet you get therre will always be someone who will have a way to make it better.
