Trumpet learning?
Put your lips together and blow.
Reply:it can be very hard to start on your own. get a private teacher or find out if your local comunity college has beginning band classes (some do).

a good beginner book is standards of excellence, it has cd's so you can hear some of the tunes/excercises.

if you are serious about playing ska %26amp; reggae, a private teacher is the best way to go!
Reply:well, lesson help. i'm assuming/hoping u know how to buzz and get sound out of it? and read music? or u could just purchase a basic beginniners book.

well ur basic Bflat scale starts on the low C and u play these valves:

C Open (no valves)

D 1 and 3 (the valve closest to ur face is 1)

E 1 and 2

F 1

G Open

A 12

B 2

C Open

that's about all the help i can offer. seriously, lessons help alot.
Reply:like other people mentioned before, teachers and good instruction book are the best tools. reading music is easier than reading text, because there are only seven letters, a-g, and each letter has a sharp and flat. when people learn to read music they often use acronyms- for example notes on the lines of the staff go:

e, g, b, d, f, from top to bottom. notes between the lines (starting below e) go: d, f, a, c, e, g. from top to bottom. the most common acronyms are 1) Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, and FACE. if you write the letters in the spots where their corresponding notes should be, you'll notice they ascend in alphabetical order. there are no tabs for trumpet, but once you get the hang of reading the music, i suggest you write the valve numbers above the notes to help you remember them.
