Should I upgrade to a professional trumpet?

I am a freshman in high school right now. I have been playing the B-flat trumpet for five straight years on a Yamaha YTR-2335 student trumpet. I have been 1st chair every year except this year (I am now 2nd). For the first time, I have started feeling that my instrument is holding me back and my tone especially doesn't compare with the 1st chair (not as rich or dark). I have tried everything to have a better tone (better embouchure, bigger breath, blowing from the diaphragm, controlled airflow), but nothing has really helped. Should I think about getting a professional trumpet? If so, what are recommendations for both the horn and the mouthpiece?

you should get the same mouthpiece and a better, more expensie horn.

You'll be used to the mouth feel
Reply:I think that it was just a scar in your feelings when you found out that you weren't first.

No matter how good your instrument it, it's your lips that do the work.
Reply:as you get better on the trumpet, the horn you play actually makes a big difference. it sounds like you should get a new one. i would go for a bach with a 3c mouthpiece.
