Trumpet snails need help?
As long as conditions are right in your aquarium, your trumpet snails should breed readily on their own. Keep in mind that they are livebearers so you won't see any eggs.

Here are some things to check:

- Water condition: it should be on the hard side with plenty of oxygen, no nitrites and low levels of ammonia.

- Water temp: between 70 and 80 degrees should be fine.

- Substrate: they should have a good inch or twp of gravel to hide under during the day.

- Lighting: several hours of darkness each day since they're nocturnal.

- Food source: although they will eat some algae, they require protein in the form of leftover fish food. Snail food that has calcium would be beneficial too.
Reply:If they're the Malaysian trumpet snails, they would prefer warm water. The ones I keep only reproduce if the tank is over 72-74o. They're able to live in cooler water, though, they just don't reproduce.
