Trumpet or trombone?

ok so i am good at the trumpet but idk if i should start to learn trombone for some fun.....give me some answers

Trumpet or trombone?
I used to play both. When I origianlly swicthed, I got up "up to speed" in a hurry as I chose a valve trombone. Embochure on "bone" was the biggest issue - reading F-clef was "no biggy" for me at least as I also played some piano and had a pretty good feel for G/F clefs.

If you're going to slide trombone...you'll have all of the above to deal with + slide positions. which take a while to master. You have to develop what is commonly referred to as "muscular memory" so the postions eventually become "no big deal." It's not any more difficult, in my mind, than the agony trumpet players have to deal with in memorizing valve combinations (not too mention, alternative fingerings.)

If this is primarily for a "hoot," go with a valve bone.
Reply:depends if you can read bass clef music, you'll need to re-wire your brain to do so. its totally different then what you're used to.
Reply:Stick with the trumpet for your neighbours sake.
Reply:I like trumpet . trumpets have a nice sharp sound and are important in jazz! wATCH OUT YOU May not get your 1st pick, a band needs trumpets, but not 10!!!
Reply:I play sax and I have a trombone just for fun. If you want to spend $100 to get a used, old bone then I'd say go for it. It's fun to mess around with and if you like it you could make the transfer from trumpet to trombone. Just try it out and see how you like it.
Reply:DUDE. TRUMPET FOR LIFE!
Reply:I played trumpet for many years, private lessons from a guy in the Pacific Symphony and my brother was awesome on the Trombone. The trombone is the loudest instrument in any orchestra/wind ensemble, but both have their strong points. It depends on if you're comfortable with Bass Clef or Treble Clef?

Trombone is of course, bass clef and trumpet is treble, but also, the ranges are different. The trumpet has nearly the same range as the piano, but the trombone, especially bass trombone has a very low range.

I personally believe while they're seems to be way too many trumpeters, and very few trombonists, the world could always use a gifted player of either. I think both are "cool" instruments. Good luck in choosing!
Reply:Why can't you play both?

And try the french horn, too.

Being diverse could make you a commodity, if you're looking for a career in music.
Reply:um,... no. Trumpet all the way!..Trumpet players are cool, you get to play Taps all the time. haha They're very similar so you're not wagering much if you try to juggle both.
Reply:trombone is where its at
Reply:Play both you'll get more jobs, but start with the baritone as it will play in both treble and bass cleft. That way once you get comfortable with bass cleft you can then go to trombone or tuba.
