My trumpet has finally worn out. My teacher told me to purchase a Bach Model 180-37. I found it for a price of $1,799.00. Is this resonable for a trumpet who has played for 2 years?
Is this trumpet a reasonable choice/price?

Yes, unfortunately that price is what they're selling for. You were probably quoted a price for the S37, not the 37. The S37 is usually sold for $1799 while the 37 is usually about $70 cheaper. Check the link above.
Reply:try craigslist.org if you live in or near LA or atlanta.craigslist.org if ya live down here in the South. there are some good deals. also:ebay
Reply:The trumpet model you listed is a professional trumpet. Sure it's great quality but it's not the horn for a someone to young. If you are in high school and plan on playing for awhile then its a good investment. Otherwise you might look for an intermediate horn. It's less of an investment but still has good quality. For younger musicians it's actually a better horn because the metal is thicker and more resistant to dents. Here is what I'd recommend:
Bach
TR200S for $1,100 at wwbw.com
I was a band director for 20 years and currently teach private trumpet lessons.
Reply:That seems a little too spendy to me for someone who has been playing for two years.
