Trumpet Section leader help?

I am most likely going to be section leader for my marching band's trumpet section. I am one of the best of the 10 players (at least I think and hope) and I just wanted tips for this and how to get myself better.

I know I can teach the concepts well, its just I have never done it before and I want to get better at trumpet before the season begins.

How Can I improve my tone quality and range???

Any tips/ help for marching band would be appreciated.

Trumpet Section leader help?
The ultimate answer to your range and tone questions is air. The trouble with this is in the details. We all have our individual issues.

The best thing to do would be to find a private instructor in your area. He/she can help you with your individual goals and issues. In my opinion, find a teacher that will help you learn how to properly use your air.
Reply:Are you high school or middle school? I'm a section leader for my middle school marching band. I am also the section leader for the middle school all county band. In middle school, section leaders hardly ever do anything but pass out music.

One thing I do though, is encorage challenges throughout the whole section, even if the challenge is on me. Another thing I do is try to help everyone in the trumpet section. Also, don't try to take sides on who you think is better during a challenge. I just keep my mouth shout to the end of the challenge.

Hope this helps. But I'm only in middle school. I don't know if it would help for high school.
