What trumpet should i buy for around 1,000 dollars? I have been playing for nearly 7 years now? I am starting college and i need a trumpet that will last me throughout college. I plan on playing forever. The type of trumpet i have been looking for is one that has great tone and makes it easy to hit high notes as well as nice sounding low notes. This is the first trumpet i am purchasing.

Go to your local music store and see what they have. Usually they'll have something good on sale. I upgraded a year ago and had a $1,000 limit. I got a King Silver Flair, which is a beautiful silver trumpet. It's less expensive than the Bach Stradivarius, but is still professional quality. There is much less back pressure, which will help with the high notes, and it has a nifty thumb slide trigger. I moved up from a beginner Bach model and the improvement was great.

Yamaha's are also an excellent brand, or you might be able to find a used Bach Strad for about $1,000. However, whatever trumpet you get, you should bring your mouthpiece along with you to the store and try what they have. Each trumpet is handmade and therefore unique.

Be sure to stick with a good quality mouthpiece, such as a Bach. I made the mistake of using the one that came with the trumpet and was told by my teacher (at the end of the year, mind you) that the one's they give you with the trumpets are just cheap fillers. If you have difficulty with high notes, going to a 7C mouthpiece can sometimes help. I've heard good things about the plastic mouthpieces as well.

Best of luck!
Reply:Go to the store and try the out the trumpet i thought of getting actually did not work for me as well as something that cost less
